Background
Marina Bay is a bay in the southern part of Singapore near the Central Area, and stretched to the east of the Downtown Core.
Marina Bay was reclaimed from the sea in 1970s for long-term expansion of the city where it was planned to extend seamlessly from the current Central Business District (CBD) at Raffles Place to develop Marina Bay as a unique competitive advantage as a new growth area.
To ensure good connectivity, the development at Marina Bay will based on an urban grid pattern extending from the current city grid network.
This allows the flexibility amalgamation or subdivision of Marina Bay into plots of different sizes.
Marina Bay is zoned as the “White site” which allows developers in deciding the most appropriate use of each site where there could be a mix of uses for this area, including commercial, residential, hotel and entertainment.
Marina Bay also provides the most creative facilities and infrastructure for example, the underground “common services tunnel” which are built where most of the prodigious activities take place which houses telecommunication and utilities networks in a “plug-and-play” format, with 100% emergency backup services and the capacity for expansion to meet changing utility needs.
Marina Bay is well served by a comprehensive transport network. New underground mass rapid transit stations with seamless links to surrounding developments, as well as new road extensions to the city and airport, give residents and executives immediate access to the rest of the island and beyond.
Within Greater Marina Bay, water taxis offer scenic rides while doubling up as an alternative mode of transportation around the Bay. This provides greater public-transport connectivity, both within Marina Bay and to the rest of Singapore.
A comprehensive pedestrian network including shady sidewalks, covered walkways, underground and second-storey links ensure all-weather protection and seamless connectivity between developments and mass rapid transit stations.
Marina Bay is planned with greenery all around, thus enhances the image of Singapore as a garden city. The master plan of Marina Bay was filled with lush landscaping, with each district characterised by a different natural theme based around the colours of gold, pink and green, creating a multi-coloured, multi-sensory garden environment for all to enjoy.
